Prepping Facts & Fiction With Author Franklin Horton

selco - real shtf

In this podcast from a few years ago, I had the chance to pick Selco’s brain about bartering, food, water, looting, rioting, and a number of other issues he experienced during a true SHTF situation.

Jonathan Hollerman

Jonathan and I talk about Mutual Assistance Groups (MAG), long term food storage, setting up a survival retreat and more.

In this video Brian and Dale have Glen Tate & Shelby Gallagher hosts of Prepping 2.0 on to talk about Civil Unrest, Media Bias, The State of the United States, and their prepping journeys.

This show is basically a coffee table conversation covering topics that are at the heart of preparedness. These topics are also very relevant to what our lives could look like in the coming years.

This week, we have a fantastic guest with us to talk about preparedness and the current political and social climate we are living in. Franklin Horton is one of the top dystopian fiction (prepper fiction) authors out there and is the real deal when it comes to prepping.

What makes Franklin stand out is that he doesn’t just write prepper fiction; he lives the preparedness lifestyle. Although the books he writes are fiction, they are packed with preparedness and survival lessons.

On top of being a great writer, Franklin has some great incites to share and has a great personality, and is very knowledgeable in all aspects of preparedness. As you will hear in the show, Franklin was raised having a preparedness mindset.

Franklin Horton lives and writes in the mountains of southwestern Virginia. He started writing at thirteen years old and has written over thirty science fiction and thriller novels. He lives a hermit’s life on a remote mountaintop along the Clinch Mountain chain, splitting his day between writing and tinkering in his shop like one of his characters.

Those of you who know about Selco of SHTFSchool already know this is a must listen to episode. For those of you who don’t, you are in for a treat.

We all do our best to think about all the different aspects of preparing for a large scale SHTF event, and hearing from someone who has actually been through it can help us do that.

This episode of the Survivalist Prepper Podcast I was honored to have Jonathan Hollerman on to talk about his books, what Grid Down Consulting is, and his thoughts on a number of situations we might face in a SHTF scenario.

During the interview we went over quite a bit about what Jonathan does and why, but he has a fantastic website, and I highly suggest you check it out. Even if you are not interested in his consulting work, Jonathan offers much more than that.

I this video we have the father of wilderness medicine Dr. William Forgey on with us to talk about his new book The Preppers Medical Handbook.

We talked about the different types of situations preppers might face in a disaster scenario, how to treat pain, and how his book is more of an encyclopedia rather than a “read from cover to cover” type book.
